MFC42.DLL: Make sure you have the latest version: 6.00.8665.0 (or
higher). This file is dated 8/16/2000. If you don't, you need to not
only update MFC42.DLL, but probably other system files. The easiest
way to do this is to update your Internet Explorer. It looks as
though you're running "Microsoft Outlook Express 5.50.4522.1200". The
latest version of Internet Explorer is 5.50.4522.1800 (or higher).
You probably need a few updates such as SP1 and a couple others. Use
the Windows Update site. If this doesn't work, you probably need to
update your drivers or remove some items in your StartUp folder and
Registry Run keys. For the latter you would need to be an experienced
computer user. In any event, upgrade at your own risk.
If you change from Win98SE to W2K, you probably will have other
problems. You might even be worse off. I say "change" because
upgrading would be out of the question. You would have to delete
everything and do a fresh install of W2K.
Good Luck,
Daniel.
