MetaStock may not be a very resource-intensive application by itself, but
having had Win2000 installed for about a year soon, I would not recommend
upgrading to anything less than that. Yes it's more expensive, but it's
well worth it. Having tried W2K, even those hard-core MS-haters might start
to like the OS. But then again, they never will have the chance since they
promise never to upgrade again... NOT just my opinion, but pretty much
everyone's who has tried W2K and actually puts the computer through some
resource-intensive tasks.
