Michael,
Those days are (currently unfortunately) over. In the silicon valley
the average going rate for 10+ years of C++/Java/etc. type sr. software
engineer is about $100-$125/hour. Top talent gets more, many gets less.
I'm sure rates are lower in other parts of the country (like Utah).
