Forbes list series 7 brokers as the "worst profession to aspire to" during
the next ten years.  Ask a wirehouse broker how "wonderful" things are going
and I believe you will find that many are working twice as hard today and
making 40% of what they did twenty years ago (with the same numbers).  Try
picking up a "65"...although, I believe as of 2000 you need a "7" to get a
"65".  The Registered Investment Advisor ticker offers quite a bit more
flexibility.
