Thanks gentlemen for all your
input.
I have decided to use Windows Commander
version 4.51 on both computers as recommended by Chris Baude. It's freeware from
www.ghisler.com. It requires connecting the
parallel ports on each machine with a special cable. They advise using a
Laplink parallel cable. They also provide the wiring/pin out diagrams for the
cable. With that, I was able to use a micropatch adapter made by Datatran Corp
to make the wire configuration and tied this to a conventional parallel
cable. (The adapter is like a bread board with a 25 pin male connector on one
end and a 25 pin female connector on the other with space in between to
place jumper wires in the correct pin positions on each end.) WC is set up
on one computer as the client and as the server on the other.
Operating from the client, files are readily copied from one computer to the
other. Transfer rates are said to be about 50Kbps.

Subject: Data Transfer - New
Computer
I forgot who wanted a program to move data
from one computer to another.
I have a program that will do the trick and
can send as an email attachment.
There are 2 files (one about 350 KB and the
other 430 KB). All is required is a cable and these 2 files. Just install
your software from the vendor and then transfer the files. I just
transferred a 767MB data file from one computer to another and nothing was
dropped/lost/screwed-up.
