It appears that a similar scenario was done with TC2000. Nothing
happened. The conversion is still a two step process. Equis made
available a DLL for conversion, and TC never bought into it.
The shoe is actually on QP's foot.
The fact is that Equis makes a DLL that will access any database and
convert (and updates selectively) directly to MS format.
Equis HAS to make some money in the deal.
It is up to QP to buy the DLL and pay royalty to Equis. Why should
Equis give away resources / tech support and QP get all the benefits?
This is a business decision, same reason we buy and sell stocks. There
are looser and winners. If MS reads QP directly, Equis is the looser
and QP the winner.
Granted the user is the winner if Equis gives away the technology, but
I hardly think more people will buy MS if it reads QP data.
Maybe you should write a letter to QP, and ask them to incorporate QP
to MS transfer in their program via the DLL.
TC2000 is read by many 3rd party programs.
