Since when? And since when switch this option OFF?

I have always used Smart Charts (eg since 1996), but only in Layouts and have never had
any problems using them. On their own, yes, then you might find them "cumbersome" and
not-so-Smart.

You must get aquinted with+to the fact that these Smart Charts <default by program> are
<as default chart/layout> prefered over the program's basic Default.mwt template use, eg

1. -Basicaly the program will <by default> use the Default.mwt template for Opening of
     a security
2. -BUT when the program default "Use Smart Charts"-setting(see below) is checked to ON,
then this Type of Chart (Smart) will be used <only IF THEY ALREADY EXIST>, ELSE the
program defaults back to using the Default template instead, and when you then click File|Save
the Smart Charts will also be created.
3. -Smart Charts are always stored in a newly created MSSmart folder, a folder beneath your
      current Security's working folder

Now when you re-design your Default.mwt, and expect any security to use this new designed
template, that's when you are being "fooled" by program, since that it will not have deleted
any old Smart Charts, eg and from # 2 rule will then Open with the Smart Chart for that security,
(only if one is present in the MSSmart folder). Also Smart Charts , eg the files, stored in
the MSSmart folder are not carrying a security Name, instead all have #'s, eg like " C4.mws ".

The "Use Smart Chart"-setting <by program> is default set to ON and can be found @
"Tools|Options...|Chart Options|Change Security" and when set to OFF on Save-ing can be
given as an option in the Save window.

A fix for your problems at any time, is to delete the MSSmart folder + its contents.
Then recreate the Smart Charts. You will then also loose your (line) studies + text etc., but
will also find to have got rid of your problem. That's true if you've recreated the Default
template(see above) and expect ANY Opened "Chart" to now have your new design.
(Getting rid of the "older" Smart Charts then, since it cannot find a Smart Chart for that
particular Security, will have MSK defaulting back to the Default.mwt).

It can be a fix for your "not plotting of a from the Quick List pulled down indicator" too.
Perhaps incompatability problems between a 6.5 Smart Chart and a 7.0 Smart Chart.

Question:
Please continue to (in-brief) report along (with your post) your MDK findings. TVM.
