Wilhelm:

I will research this issue. In the meantime, I need some more information.
I need a single, detailed example that will duplicate this problem for me.
If you can answer the following questions for A SINGLE CHART THAT EXHIBITS
THE BEHAVIOR YOU ARE SEEING:

1. Are you using a real-time or delayed feed?
2. What are the two symbols of the composite, what are their intervals
(1-min etc) and what is the start and end time of each.
3. For the two symbols that make up the composite, are they set up to
retrieve OPEN data?
4. What indicators do you have in the chart?
5. What chart style (bars, candlesticks etc) are you using to view the data?
6. What is the interval (1-min etc) of the chart itself?
7. In your real-time configuration setting, is it set up to generate empty
bars?

Thank you.

Hi Ken:-

Trading Future-Index Spreads in RT mode the composites that I have created
in the DL doesn't function properly in RT. In short, once the one component
of the composite (spread) have traded in the new timeframe (5minutes) it
only shows 3candles of data, and the indicators are also removed/or not
functioning (me closing all the Indicator Messaging Errors). Once the
secondary component of the composite have traded then it display the full
price line (with all the indicators). This process repeats itself almost in
every timeframe and is very frustrating! I initially reported it in May and
June and below is the response were they promise this problem will be solved
in 7.02. IT ISN'T!

Please advice

Wilhelm

Greetings.

As I said in my last e-mail, the problem has been fixed, but there is no
patch available for your current version of MetaStock. We expect 7.02
to be released within a month or so. That's the best we can do at this
time.

Thank you for your patience.

Is there a way that you can solve this problem earlier, as I only one
spread
due to the lack of real time data in South-Africa. I've spend 5 months
on
s/w development to make the MSDK compatible with my data vendors data
and
now the composite doesn't function properly. Please advice!

Greetings.

Our research indicates that this may be an issue with the program
itself. It should be resolved in MetaStock 7.02, due out shortly.

Thank you for brining this to our attention.

Thanks for replying, I understand what you mean but still why is there
at
one stage all the bars in the window and the next time when one
component
trade there is only about 7 bars of data in the window and the
indicators
complain that they can't do their calculations. A few trades later all
the
data (bars) is back in the window and a few trades later there is only
about
7 bars again forcing you to remove the indicators again before the
program
can went on to function normally. I have tested it from 5-60min
timeframes
and it is doing it in all. For example in the 60minute charts both
components trade about 30 times in that frame and this problem occur
about 5
times in one hour that only 3 hours of data (3bars) is available and the
next moment 3days of 1hour bars is available making it possible to use
the
indicators again. After about 5 trades only 3bars is displayed forcing
you
to remove the indicators again. I hope you understand what I'm trying to
say. I know Metastock very well and is very familiar with it. Thanks

Greetings, Wilhelm.

In order for the composite to plot correctly, BOTH of its components
MUST have matching dates and times. If, for example, component A of
your composite trades at 9:00 AM and component B doesn't trade until
9:05, then if component Also traded at 9:05, then the first bar on your
composite would be 9:05. The ONLY time you will see a bar on the
composite is when BOTH components have the same exact trading date and
time stamp. Therefore, MetaStock is operating normally. You may want
to check the timestamps on BOTH your component securities for accuracy.

Thank you.

I'm using MS Pro 7 to track two indeces in South-Africa of which I trade
the
composite. I have created the composite in the Downloader. I have
imported
the MSDK from you in order to make this feature running. There is only
one
frustration and as far as I can see it is the following: Once the one
component of the composite trade in a new time frame and the other
component
haven't trade, there is only about seven bars of data in the active
window
and the program then complain because there is not enough data to make
the
necessary calculations for the experts and the indicators. Then when
both
have traded it suddenly shows all the bars(data) on which you can use
the
indicators and experts. Using a 5 minute chart you think what is the
implication. According to my data data vendor which is also my software
engineer, it is a fault in MS7. According to him the program must take
the
previous value of the component that haven't traded in order to not let
this
problem occur. Otherwise please advice if there is a solution around it.

Cheers

Wilhelm
