I appreciate your detailed suggestions.

I have contacted Netscape ($29 whether they solve the problem or not), and
Microsoft (2 free tech support calls on any windows software). I have done
everything they have told me. Nothing works. when I click on a link, up
comes IE, I prefer Netscape. The Netscape person led me through the process
of editing parts of the registry. According to the settings in both IE and
Netscape, Netscape is my default browser: it is my default browser only if I
click on an html file.

I will give this another shot and keep you posted.

These problems developed when I installed the latest version of IE This was
necessary after I installed Office 2000 as it messed up outlook express. I
am running Win 98 2nd edition.
