Maybe I'm too accepting, but I don't see this as such a big deal. Guys like
Equis and Omega spend big bucks developing their trading software, only to
have it ripped off by some Russian hacker who resells it for $100.
The biggest hassle I see is having to rummage in storage for the CD. When my
"insert CD" message came up, I actually clicked on "Do it later" and it
hasn't reappeared. That's one message in the 5 or 6 months since upgrading
to 7.0, so it's not like a weekly or monthly nag message. And frankly, I'd
rather have this security measure than a hardware dongle.
I do have a gripe though. The Version 7.0 documentation either didn't warn
about the new security measure or the warning was buried deep somewhere.
Equis, you have to clearly warn the users with laptops that they need to
have the CD onhand at Day 90 (or whatever).
