Hi Bob

If you use the Turtle data CD etc. of individual contracts you can construct
the historical spreads in Metastock or Excel. I use Excel for constructing
the spread with lows, thereby making MinFE easier to calculate. Sweeney's
other analysis is easily run.

More importantly, you get a really good sense of the days-in-trade when you
plot the winners horizontally. The same with losers. Days-in-trade
indicators can be plotted right on the chart.

MRCI is good for a quick look, but the  detailed analysis is more
interesting. I also use the 3-D surface chart etc.

Also, MRCI spreads are not screened for skillful entries and exits, so their
annual return is very conservative.
