OK, Bob, I did not understood you before. Letīs see if I can help you.
Define a binary wave with the C value only when a buy signal is triggered,
(something like    if(your buy condition =1;c;0)         )
Then at any time, you can calculate the "number of bars" or the "value" since
last time that this binary wave was different than cero (there are funtions
in the Metastock that makes exactly this). And you can introduce this number
in the Ref expresion using the "Lastvalue" function.
