Re: Convert Excel 97 data to MS

This below(1) is data as in how the Downloader converts it from MetaStock to Excel.

Besides the 2 bugs that are clearly visable, eg the trademarked Equis line on the first
row and the blank line on the third row, eg 2 bugs that will produce errors (conversion
failures) when converting the file back from Excel to MetaStock, another third(3td)
bug can be found in the filename, eg the Excel file will receive the "D" for the
periodicity automatically in the 8th character positioned filename, eg the freshly new
converted file should realy get the name esxezuew50.xls (according to the file's ticker,
or if 8 positions (common in ***DOS***, but in Win95 ?????) is the Downloader's
maximum for the filename, it should at least get shortened to esxezuew.xls, but
suprise suprise..........................the DL Convert Tool will automaticaly shorten the
name to Esxezued.xls (????).

***The Store filenames in DOS 8.3 format***
causes DownLoader to store the short 8.3 MS-DOS compatible form of any long filenames.
"8.3" refers to the maximum of 8 characters in the filename portion of the name and
3 characters in the extension, for example, "12345678.123".

1.-Below is a short Output example file ( MetaStock > Excel )

2.-Attached is the full Output example file (Excel > MetaStock ) eg the ESXEZUEW50.xls
ready for Convert in the Downloader.
Note that in the attached correct Excel data file, no records lines are left blank at the
bottom, as these blanks lines, when left behind, will also return a "not able to convert"
     error in the Downloader.
Also note:
-The columns, actualy the whole sheet's arrangements, are outlined to the left, eg all data
is shifted to the left side of the columns(this is for saving the full file contents correctly).
-The file was saved according to the instructions on page 72 - Downloader manual
    for Excel data file's :
                - data is one(1x) single security (standard procedure)
                - data is seperated by and also placed in columns, with the proper column's
headers on top, eg on the first row
                - dates are in the mm/dd/yyyy format (eg the proper date sequence)
                - dates are sorted ascending (eg dates order, not a mix of old and new ; and
oldest dates are placed at the top, youngest on the bottom)
                - any blank lines on the bottom were deleted (in Excel select lines and right-click
                    to click Delete)
                - File|Save As in the optionaly Excel 4.0 worksheet file type(single sheets only)

3.-The then to follow correct conversion procedure is step-by-step explained in the GIF-files
below (and also fully outlined in the Downloader manual p. 65 and further).
