One way to minimize the impact of the Y2Kproblem is to go into the
Control Panel on
your computer, click on the "Regional Settings" icon, and reset the
"Short-Date Format" from mm-dd-yy to mm-dd-yyyy. That tells the other
programs running on your operating system that they should run in a
four-digit-year mode.
This action will help to avoid some important sequencing problems.
My reactions: Although the change did not make any obvious changes in
MetaStock's output, dates in my Excel spreadsheets were automatically
changed from two to four digits. Consequently, I had to widen an
occasional date fields in the spreadsheets.
