Betreff: MS652a - Patch : Updating of Video drivers
After applying the latest patches, suggestions were made by Equis
Support for those (incl. myself) who are
having problems, to upgrade their video drivers from their hardware
manufacturers. This most certainly is true,
however it did not fix any of my problems. The latest 652+652a Patches
of Jan26 and Feb08 1999 however
did the trick on my computer.
Some odd video performance remained however, and besides from the above
652Patch informing my
video-card manufacturer for a newer driver version and also from using
the latest succesfull Metastock program
and the latest IE50 and OE50 programs, has had me realised that there is
more to it, to get my screen to operate
and function as it should be. Problem here is that sometimes when
scrolling the pages up and down in windows,
the screen jumps to refresh the page again(not smoothly), disturbing any
normal viewing for only a 1 or 2 seconds.
Among the manufacturers, Microsoft should also be included, eg being the
Operating System's manufacturer
and thus inter-acting/communicating with the hardware manufacturer's
equipment(s) and software packages.
So below is the information for a free upgrade to version 6.1 of the MS
DirectX application, which prior versions
in the past were standard shipped along with the video-card
manufacturer's software. To my knowledge most
people have DirectX v3.1 (or higher) installed on their computers, and
currently DirectX v7.0 is in its final (?)
beta-testing phase, and the finalising commercial release version 7.0
will be shipped out with the Windows2000
OS-program(NT5.1+), due to be released around October 1999.
Ton,
with an old graphics card (Diamond Stealth 64 Video with S3 968 Chip) thin
blue lines of indicators in inner windows were invisible.
As I had already the latest driver in use no solution was in sight but to
buy a new graphics card. Now I run a fast new graphics card (3D Blaster
Banshee PCI) on my old PC and I like the enhanced speed. No more graphics
probs with Metastock.
But I have some doubts that Direct X is the reason of the graphics problems.
Do you know for sure that MetaStock calls DirectX resources?
