I have chosen not to upgrade and have never upgraded from the original 6.5
as I have seen too many problems by other people upgrading and have NOT seen
the need to upgrade until all the patches are "patched up". I have been
using MS6.5 for over 1 year without any problems. I believe the problem has
to do with my trying a different data vendor (Quote Plus 2) as I have been
using TC2000 data. By using this vendor he creates some Virtual Metastock
data and directories and I feel that this caused this glitch yesterday which
is when I first used the Quote Plus 2 program.
The use of multiple directories should not be causing the problem because I
have been using different data vendors in the past and had different MS
directories for each data vendor. Thus perhaps this "Virtual directories"
messed up MS. Let's see what Equis says and if I have to upgrade I guess I
will.
Thanks,
Bill

Your Chart, SmartChart, Layout, or on opening new securities which then
makes standard use of the Default.mwt-Template, have a link to another
security in the chart(s) and program is unable to track or locate it/them.
Form this, can tell that you either have not succesfully installed the
latest
available Patch(es), or did not upgrade at all.
So run any of the LATEST available and for your situation applicable Patch.
There are 2 of them, one for the old patchers and one for the fresh new
first
time patchers and for more info refer you to todays (+ latest) mailing(s)
to the List, i.e. subject: "Re: ? patch" and also to the Equis website
http://www.equis.com/customer/support/files/
The build date in the MS+DL About menu's, must be Feb 5, 1999(or later)
and both patches require the congratulations messages to be displayed
and machine to be re-booted, for the process of "6.5 to 6.52" transitioning
to be succesfully applied.

All upgrade details are available at the Equis website(see above)
and here are the Patches:
MSW652.EXE - FULL (for first time patchers)
http://www.equis.com/customer/support/files/download/MSW652.EXE
This patch will upgrade anyone with MetaStock for Windows End-of-Day version
6.5.
This will work on any 6.5 install or from any previous 6.5 patch. This patch
contains
the Euro and Y2K adjustments and will update your version of The DownLoader
to 6.52 also. (dated 2/8/99, 4.8 Mb)
---------------------
Msw652a.exe - SMALL (for old patchers)
http://www.equis.com/customer/support/files/download/Msw652a.exe
This patch will upgrade anyone with MetaStock for Windows 95 & NT End-of-Day
version 6.52, if you used the patch dated 1/22/99 to update your version
6.5, or
installed MetaStock for Windows 95 & NT End-of-Day version 6.52 from a new
version 6.52 CD-ROM. If you used an earlier dated patch to update from
version 6.5 to version 6.52, you should reinstall version 6.5 and utilize
the full patch.
This patch contains fixes for the "Date requested is after the last date in
the data"
error when opening charts. This patch also corrects a problem in The
DownLoader
for Windows 95 & NT "Traverse Destination Folders" during conversions as
well
as the conversion of intra-day data files. (dated 2/8/99, 587 kb)
---------------------
Download the file and double-click on it. The patch will install
automatically.
Once it is installed you will receive a message telling you the programs
were
successfully patched. After the patch has installed, reboot your computer to
run MetaStock for Windows.
