Very good and important point! I think it applies to Explorer as well. I didn't
make any research on Tester, but what I can say about Explorer is this. I as
anybody who runs Explorer used to the noisy sound coming from a hard disk. My
guess was it's the way it should be, since for each equity Explorer has to
retrieve the data to work on in the first place. Once when got annoyed by too
slow exploration, I thought why not to place the data on RAM disk to expedite
the process? You can imagine my amazement when it didn't work at all - it
remained as slow as it was before! It seems all input/output hard disk exchange
is mostly to "retrieve" a code for EACH security, not much the data. I guess
here lies a serious problem both for Explorer and Tester if you are concerned
with the speed of these operations, especially if Equis is to incorporate into
Tester a multiple securities testing capability which I believe is the most
important improvement to be done.
