Try turning down your video accelerator or replacing your video driver.
You can also start Win95 in Safe Mode and try loading the layouts. If
they load correctly, your video driver is the problem.

Just before you assume it to be your QP Virtual-program, note this mail
explaining
my, somehow very much simular situation, as I get the same Stack Dump
crashes
also, caused by MSWIN in Win95 only when singly starting most of my
Layouts .
This happens only with most of my -in the last 2 months- created
MS65-Layouts.
These Layouts contain 3 charts each, and each chart contains the maximum
alowed
inner windows, and ofcourse these Layouts were made with 'old' MS65,
before I
had very succesfully(Congratualations message was shown when finished)
installed
the update Patch to MS652.
Sometimes, starting a Layout, it manages to either open the 1st or the
2nd or the 3td Chart
only, and sometimes in combinations, Chart 1+3 or Chart 2+3, before it
finaly crashes
and showing the SD-error. (SD errors are caused by invalid 'commands'
(unavailable) being
executed on the computers' processor-memory).
No need to reboot, just pressing OK will automatically have MS652
disapear and the screen
returning to the Win95-desktop (the above crashes are not OS-crashes).
In most of the other 'old' Layouts, the ones that do open properly,
changes to the days
Loaded(accessable through X-axis or via the on the workmenu's Format)
cannot be saved,
eg they can be adjusted and pressing OK will return me to the Layout
but, when straight
after that clicking the X-axis for its properties dialog window again,
none of the adjusted dates
are used, instead the older unadjusted dates are shown/applied.
If I make abright new Layout, this problem doesn't exists.
Obviously, an indicator being called upon, wether currently existsing in
the IB-Quick List or
recently being removed/deleted/altered/changed, causes MSWIN to crash.
At least that is here the case, I think, on my computer.
Currently, after applying the Patch, starting and displaying any of the
Layouts takes up
much longer as well.
My previously to the List reported crashes, caused when the Default
template is being used,has been fixed.Changing the Open|Option for
Loaded Data from min.1000 to 25000 (!) has stopped MSWIN to crash
when opening any (Smart) Chart .

This is an update to the previous email I sent you on Friday morning: I
am having difficulty using MetaStock v6.52 with the Quotes-Plus Virtual
program. I have the most recent download for QP Virtual. 2 weeks ago I
upgraded my computer hardware and Windows 95 to Windows 98. Windows 98
works correctly. Except for MetaStock v6.52 with QP Virtual, I know of
no other programs which crash in Win98. Even Corel WordPerfect 7 works
correctly. If I try to open a large layout with more than 10 charts, I
will either get crashes or the layout will take a long time to open. I
ran 2 large Explorations containing 1300 stocks and they completed
correctly. The Explorations access the QP database through Virtual. I
mentioned before how if I removed these 3 Matrox TSR's, the layout will
load:
1. HGCCTL95.EXE
2. MGACTRL.EXE
3. MGAQDESK.EXE
After examining the problem further, I found this doesn't seem to make
any difference. Opening a layout with more than 10 charts seems to be
difficult for QP Virtual. Using MetaStock data output from QP, I created
a very large 24 chart layout. I did not have Virtual in memory. The
layout type is similar to the one I use with Virtual, only larger. Even
with the Matrox and Logitech Mouse TSR's in memory, this very large
layout opened correctly several times. When I used QP Virtual, MS v6.5,
and Windows 95, I was able to open 15 charts layouts through Virtual no
problem.
Please fix your Virtual program so that it works with Windows 98 and
MetaStock v6.52.
