CSI is a direct competitor of Reuters DataLink. The committee that
decides who gets the write version of MSFL (the MetaStock file library)
determined that as a direct competitor they were not going to give them
the library.
UnFair Advantage has never used the file library materials, even when
they were able to obtain it, choosing in the past to write directly to
MetaStock files and currently doing so. In fact, they completely
overwrite the entire data set each day which can cause a great deal of
fragmentation in the files which eventually leads to problems.
Unfair Advantage currently is able to create ASCII files which may be
converted using The DownLoader. This does not overwrite the entire data
folder each time which does not cause fragmentation of the files. This
method will be available in the future as well.
You will still be able to obtain your data from CSI. They will likely
not be able to write directly to MetaStock files much longer however.

Subject: Re: MS 6.5 - Y2K ?
Thank you for clearing that up! Now I get it.
Can you please comment on the confusion (mostly my own...) re:CSI Unfair
Advantage and their claim that they are unable to guarantee that their
data
generator program will be able to provide compatible metastock data post
1999 because, quote : "we have been advised by equis that they will not
disclose to CSI the [new] metastock format details...". (see my earlier
post below).
Thanks again.
