In the Convert Dialog Window :
-select your Source Type, eg ASCI
-select your Source Folder, eg C:\My Data
-browse for your Source File(s), eg C:\My Data\data.txt
-select Destination Type to be Metastock
-fill in the Destination's Main Parrent folder, eg C:\Equis\MsWin\Data
-(no need to browse or select a destination file as this is grey-ed out, not active)
-click Options
and
-on Source TAB leave the First Date field blanc
-apply the Last Date field and fill in the current date
-apply Use Todays Date
-set both max warnings and errors to 1000
-uncheck/do not apply Traverse Folders
-set Periodicity to Daily
-on the Destination TAB:
-apply Append Data to End of File and
-apply Replace Matching Days
-apply Include Open Intrest
-apply Create Files
-apply Traverse Folders
-Press OK to get back in the Converssion Dialog Window
-Press Convert to start the UpDate conversion process
If this still gives you problems then check your source file layout(See DL manual),
eg if the right ASCI layout and header at the top of the contents are being used and
that your data is also accordingly to the below given coloms, separated by commas
and note there is to be no comma at the end of a line and that the bottom line is
filled with data records and not left blanc.
For Example:
<TICKER>,<PER>,<DTYYMMDD>,<OPEN>,<HIGH>,<LOW>,<CLOSE>,<VOL>,<OPENINT>
INDEX,D,981030,100,110,99,100,375,0
INDEX,I,981030,100,110,99,100,375,0
