Shepherd,
I downloaded additional indexes from Yahoo besides the DJI and added them to my
database. I have listed them below. I also updated them for tonight and added
them to the MetaStock data. I have ZIP'd together all the MetaStock files for
the indexes. All you must do is unzip them into an empty folder. You should be
able to access the 8 indexes in MetaStock. Let me know if you have any
trouble. To download the data, click on this:
http://www.twow.com/horizon/metastock/yahoo.zip
This file is over 1 MB in size so I don't plan to keep it in my personal web
space longer than 30 days. [Image] I am using my web space because Netscape
seems to "unzip" zip'd files and make them larger. Also, transmission is faster
and you won't have 1 MB embedded in your email forever.

I don't recommend the QuoteMonster Daily downloads for updating your data on a
daily basis. Use QuoteMonster Historical and put the same date in the 2 fields
you have to enter. This was for tonight:
e:\perl\bin\perl.exe qmh 981104 981104

The reason is the format output from QMD is incorrect and there's no volume
data. Here are all the indexes I downloaded:
Ticker Description Start_Date
^SPX S&P500 Jan/3/1950
^DJI DOW JONES INDUSTRIALS OCT/1/1928
^DJU DOW JONES UTILITIES JAN/2/1929
^DJT DOW JONES TRANSPORTS OCT/1/1928
^RUT RUSSELL 2000 SEP/10/1987
^IXIC NASDAQ COMPOSITE OCT/11/1984
^XCI AMEX COMPUTER TECH AUG/26/1983
^XAU PHLX GOLD SILVER INDEX DEC/19/1983

For future downloads, please download and install the Perl Standard Distribution
file. The link is on the QuoteMonster page: http://xmlworks.com/quotemonster/
Also, get the QuoteMonster Historical. In the QMH file, change the my $header
line to this:
my $header = '<ticker>,<date>,<open>,<high>,<low>,<close>,<vol>';

After downloading and creating the *.PRN file, you must use the Downloader to
incorporate the data into your MetaStock database. If you have trouble, please
contact mailto:quotemonster@xxxxxxxxxxxx and Equis Tech Support.

Good Luck,
Daniel.
