To solve:
1. In the Windows "StartUp"-folder located at "C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp"
check for any unnescessary program-links wich are called on and 'auto' loaded on start up
by Win95.
Temporarely remove the not required shortcut link(s) to another folder, eg to folder "Desktop"
and then reboot.
2. When rebooted and in general:
On a standard Win95 start up and when on the desktop, check what type of persistent
memory resident programs dll's and drv's are loaded. This is how:
a.-check first as is set out in (1.), the partial way as is given above
b.-then once (re) booted and being on the desktop, press the "Ctrl+Alt+Del" keys ALL AT ONCE
c.-in the next apearing "close" dialog window, select the drv's + dll's that are currently loaded
in memory, but wich items you do not currently require for the present session, as your NOW normal
standard Win95 operating environment, by selecting one item at the time only
d.-press the "end task" button ONLY
(DO NOT PRESS the "shut down" button, as this will shut down Win95)
e.-when the reconfirming dialog window apears press "end task" again and , this then will
unload your selected program item
(unloads the not by you required but resources using+consuming program)
3.Repeat the above "b-e" steps as required
4.Open up "Control Panel" and double click on "System" to get you to
the "Performance"-TAB and check that as the "system sources" a minimum of 88-95% is
available to the operating system(pref. minimum 90%). When this is lower then 88%, unload
more of the "program vitals" as is detailed given above(1-3), until you are in the 90-95% range
wich is required for a carefree computing session.
Then Memory consuming programs like MS/DL/EXCEL/WORD/"Picture Programs"/
"Scanning Programs"/"Printers" will not hassle you anymore with the sometimes given
but friendly errors -reminders- of being low on resources.
Note that for a proper operating envirement a min RAM of 16MB is required, but myself
have bettered this, first to 32MB and later to 48MB(using a Pentium 133MhZ).
