Why not? If for example the open is 10 and the atr(10) is 2 then
Open+ATR(10)*.250=10+2*.250=10.5 and 10*2*.125=10.250. So we are looking
at any number between 10.250 and 10.5.
What the real problem is seems to me to be in the statement that Al
wants to enter long when the open is "n" below the previous days close
and then trades "n" above the previous days close. These seem to be two
different bars, the open bar and the open + 1 bar or however many it
takes to go above the previous days close. I don't see how to write this
properly on end of day data. Or maybe I misunderstand the question.
