David,
the closest I get to "Outlook" is in MsOffice97. However, from install, I have
its Outlook97-program disabled, as I never used it.
But from digging memory and this "office for dummies"-book I know that
what you would like is impossible to establish.
The Outlook-taskbar can only function WITHIN Outlook-windows, eg. you must
be running Outlook first, then have its window open for the taskbar to be seen
and to provide you with its functionality.
Basicaly, what you would like, is Metastocks' standard left-side taskbar, the one
with f.i. the "drawing lines"-buttons, to be available in other Win95-programs too.
Other programs might contain the same abilities/look-a-likes(MsPaint) but any
'exchanging'/inter-acting between the programs' pencils/workbars, for example,
is impossible.
Due to both and also other programs' interfaces, this is out of the question. They
are two seperate build-in programs' tools, progammed without any
inter-exchangability.
The Office-taskbar however is as an EXE-file, a stand-alone, seperate "of any other
programs" running taskbar(besides depending on Win95).
The links are nothing else then the ordinairy "shortcut to"-links as we know in Win95,
displayed/accessable on a 1 cm wide taskbar(with minor differences much like the
Win95-taskbar).
On this taskbar, shortcuts to TASKS(small-iconed links) and folders(big-iconed links)
can be made 'and arranged accordingly'.
If programs will let themselves be accessed to run tasks from the start-up-line(Run), then
links can be made, to run them f.i. as TASKS.
Many programs, mainly because of the Windows environment, will NOT though.
To test if Outlook is capable, you will have to do a run "on just any" Outlook TASK.
This will require for you to know the right parameters though.
On-line help/manual/additional books should be able to provide you with these.
Then:
In Win95, go to Start\Run and type in the full adress of the Outlook98-program(exe) and
the tasks' parameters. If succesfull, then make the links, with the "Run-line" full details as
its "linked to"-adress.
The Microsoft Knowledge base(search on Outlook) and Outlook98 News Groups will
be the best way to get more right (parameter) info(if at all available, that is).

For News groups see your email-program/ISP.
