I appreciate the advice. These questions & issues were related to attempts
(partially successful) to design or find "continuous" trading and timing
systems.
The MXF system is currently doing OK, but as I've learned to expect, the
price pattern has changed from the original history used to find the
system. This system was entirely homegrown and uses no "canned"
indicators. What did I know?
The other was an attempt to time the S&P. The idea at the end of '94, was
to find something to signal the trading system from a sideways to a
trending mode; I couldn't find anything "fast" enough. Maybe I expected
too much. Will give ADX a go.
At any rate, I haven't been seriously into formula land for a while. I did
notice that I usually ended at the same general place. An indicator or
system that worked over a certain area, but fell apart later or sooner than
later (within the backtesting).
Might get back into it later, when under less pressure. Might help if I'd
purchase some trading systems to work with.
Most of you likely are screening stocks and trading on breakouts or
momentum or something, I'd guess. Haven't gotten around to that yet. I do
know that when I do, I'd better do it right, or I'll likely do worse than I
currently can potentially do with sector and closed-end funds.
Anyone have a "read" on the Mexican economy & market? Why IS MXF 2X the
volatility of the S&P? Is this related to the high Cetes rate? Is this
their short-term rate? Will the Bolsa reach its previous high PE ratios
with the peso unlinked? What effect are the current SE Asia currency
problems having on Mexico?
Questions . . . more questions.
