I realize that you are making a more general statement, thus the OT prefix. But, I would be interested in hearing some performance numbers as they apply to the running of your AFL scripts. Does your AmiBroker usage make sufficient disk access to see any real difference?

I made a similar decision earlier this year in that I bought the WD Velociraptor at 10,000 RPM over the more affordable slower RPM drives. But, I never did the testing to see if it had any real impact with my intended usage (I use that machine only for AmiBroker backtesting).
