That works - Thanks all - I was trying to intiate the staticvarset from within an indicator I was using (and also wanting that to change)which doesn't work so I created a separate formula just for that.
Now how do I make the pane one character high, so I can click on it to change the parameter. The pane scrolls the title off the top as it seems to have a default bottom margin of about one character high.
