This is why you want to do walk forward testing before trading real 
money.  Think how bad it would be!

It sounds like the system is overfit.  There are some things that you 
can try to save a overfit system.  

* Reduce optimization parms.  
* Remove rules that are only impact a few trades
* Increase the in sample period
* Select a different optimization goal

Don't give up.  Getting a good backtest result is half the battle...
