I don't think you have to change the x scaling. The x axis (no matter
how it is labeled) is the BarIndex. The wider candles could span more
than 1 index.
Another interesting visual effect I've seen is having lower fractal
candles visible inside higher fractals. For examples, showing the 5
1-min candles inside a 5 min candle.
