Brian,
Generally speaking flash videos (in regular .SWF format) require only Adobe Flash plugin that
is included with all modern browsers by default. Old Windows users (95/98/Me)
may need to download it separately.
FLV is a little bit different because it is recent addition to the Flash family.
A tricky part is that some "AdBlock" softwares that block advertisements
may consider *any* Flash content as ad and block it.
