I'd be inclined to say your Operating System is not very robust.
Why would you expect ANY program to handle "open files/loss of power". 
(Some exceptions to the rule of course)
This is a function of the underlying file system archatecture. And I 
don't believe windows has transaction checking in it's file system.
Thus your point about not "being very robust" I take as a reference to 
the WINDOWS OS not AB.
