I haven't been using AB since 2004. I immediately upgraded to V4.9.
On starting up, all the screens were empty. There was no data in the
file structure because previously I was pointing to Metastock files.
Metastock is now completely uninstalled, along with the data.
In order to see what the data files should look like, and to see the
directory structure, I downloaded the free trial for 4.9. I installed
this in C:\Program Files\AmiBroker490Trial
The registered version is in C:\Program Files\AmiBroker
I then ran the two ABs simultaneously. The programs look identical. In
other words, the registered AB is using the data files for the trial
AB. (The "Help About" shows that the programs are different.)
Here are two further bits of information just to complete the confusion:
1) There is only one AB in Control Panel > Add/Remove programs. It's
called "AmiBroker 4.90". I don't know whether this is the updated
V4.9, or the slighly more recent trial version.
2) The download file for the 3-year-old version is lost.
Can anyone advise me how to clear up this mess?
