sounds good, I could use a winning system .... I have been using a mechanical system since sept 2005 and this year I am terribly frustrated.   I need some ideas to be able to catch the trend succesfully since systems that hope for some volatility (my system ...) have a hard time this year.

Ed,  I think you'd be well pleased with the book.  You can see the contents by going to Howard's site.
I'm told by one of my expert friends, whose opinion I respect and who has developed many systems,
that there are a couple of trading systems in there for the effort of rekeying that could have been marketed.

Well they backtested as profitable, but now that I've said it and with several hundred books out there, the inefficiency in this bit of the market will soon be gone.   (;>

Best regards
Joe

ok thanks Joe.  I could do what you suggest but I tend to develop systems that work with a whole bunch of symbols and that would be just too much work. But I will get that book.

Ed - you have 2 more additional opinions.  I believe that and  just finished a chapter in
Howard Bandy's book where he addresses the issues of incorporating fundamental data in a trading model.

There is a lag as you pointed out between the release of the data and the time period described, and
the historical file will not indicate this. So you could go for the specific date of the release if you have it or you could
build your model with a months delay.

PS. Thanks Howard.   A shipment of books were received by 4 members of our group yesterday in Houston.

to answer my own question.  The EPS is posted by the company on Feb-8-2007. However this number is for the december quarter of 2006. So the QP2 data is shown only in the first quarter on the chart starting at Jan-1-2007.  This is misleading since the data is only reported on Feb-8-2007.  So to use this data safely you should shift it 1 quarter forward in my opinion or you should somehow know the date the report was issued (QP2 does not provide this however),

hi,

anyone have experience with the EPS data of QP?

see attached chart. From Jan-1-2007 it shows an EPS of 1.02$.  The last report of ESRX was however on Feb-8-2007 where they reported an EPS of 1.07$  This is close enough but in the chart this number seems to be show already on Jan-1-2007. And this seems to be going on for all symbols. Am I right to assume that the QP EPS numbers are displayed too early in the chart?

QP says:  "Companies annoince their earnings anywhere from a few weeks to a few months after the quarter. The current numbers will always be late on your chart."

It seems however that the numbers are early in the chart. Anybody found out how this works?

regards, Ed
