I use the Bar RePlay tool. Set your DB to local will improve performance. Open your DEMO TWS but do not transmit LMT orders as the historical prices will not match the demo prices. If your system trades MKT orders you can transmit them however of course the TWS profits will not match what you get in BackTests.
It allows you to test all the mechnaics of your system, however performance stats will be meaning less.
Also, use the RequestTimedRefresh( 1 ); will ensure regular afl executions independent from quote arrivals.
For more detailed system analysis you can create a logging file which logs all action during Bar-Replay - this could show all orders that "would have" gone out had the data been RT.
