Hi Joe,
  You sound a bit like me,except you can code in AMI and I am aspiring to do so...I am predominantly a derivatives trader,but my true interest is T.A.,and more from the pattern recognition side,be it Bulkowski's work or Candlesticks.

IMHO,tools like Validea are invaluable,and that is the foundation of my work.You should take a look at another great fundamental program P123.The web page is

If you are a schiz fundamental/technical trader,this is an excellent tool.

As for a very interesting money management tool,Market System Analyser is very good.I do not think they have portfolio capabilities yet,but it should be in the very near future.You may be able to code everything in Ami,but for those who cant its worth taking a look into.Even better,perhaps Tomasz will develop a tool similar.
