Re: [amibroker] Preferences still reverting to default

Hello,

Repeating again the same stuff:
there are 4 independent things that you mix up:
- preferences
- parameter values
- chart/grid settings
- database settings

What you are talking about in last letter are NOT preferences.

Preferences are global settings that are NOT related
to any particular chart or database.
They are stored in broker.prefs

Parameter values and chart/grid are PER-CHART settings.
They are stored in broker.params (parameters)
and broker.newcharts (chart/grid settings)

Database settings are PER-DATABASE settings
They are stored in broker.workspace file

All of this is described in the User's Guide:
http://www.amibroker.com/guide/x_files.html

There can be 3 reasons for "reverting to defaults":

1. one or more of files mentioned has read-only flag (use Windows Explorer to verify and change)1
2. you have turned OFF saving of preferences (Tools->Preferences->Misc page)
3. Your own formula resets grid settings (see SetChartOptions, "Flag" parameter that must be
set to ZERO - all other values will cause overwrite http://www.amibroker.com/f?setchartoptions )

No other possibilities. So go through this checklist. If in trouble write to SUPPORT at amibroker.com

Best regards,
Tomasz Janeczko
