I have been using my own SQL external data plugin for about 6 months. I
find it to be decently fast -- for instance, it can retreive 1 minute quotes
for about 1500 bars in real time without a problem. I use sqllite to edit
the database. Also writes well. I can't compare to other approaches
though.
