I'm having some frustrating issues with layouts. Perhaps someone would
be kind enough to enlighten me?
Here's the requirement:
I have a layout in Database A. The layout has just one template/window
with independant indicators on several screens (all are inserted as
"linked"). I want to use that template in Database B.
Here's what I'm doing:
1) After creating the layout in Database A, I save it as a global layout
2) I switch to Database B and open the global layout. So far so good.
3) I save this layout under a *new name*.
3) I change the parameters of one indicator in the layout in Database B.
4) I switch back to Database A and ?!?!**?!....the parameter setting of
the same screen in database A has changed as well!!
5) I change the parameter in Database A back to what it was before, I
switch back to Database B and the parameter has "followed" me again!
I don't want this to happen! ...I want the basic layouts/templates to be
the same across databases. I also want the indicators themselves to be
linked (i.e. if I edit the formula of one I want it to change all
instances of that indicator in all layouts). But I don't want the actual
parameters to be linked across databases. It's bad enough that I can't
make the parameters unique to each symbol in a database...but it seems
the only way I can make them unique to each database is to re-create
each layout in each database from scratch. Which is hardly the point of
saving the layouts.
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong...Can anyone help please?
TIA
Andy
