 James,
I use JustData for my Australian Stock data. Their downloader converts to
both ASCII and Metastock formats. When I first started using with AmiBroker
I tried importing both formats. I found the Metastock format to work faster
both as an import and direct access using the Metastock plug in. The
difference in speed while not great, was noticeable. If you use the
Metastock plugin to access your external data that would give you the
greatest convience as AmiBroker would automatically update your data
whenever you updated the external database, eliminating the need to run the
importer to update.

Subject: [amibroker] Ascii vs. Metastock format opions please

I have a database that I can format in either Ascii or
Metastock. It is continuous futures contracts, EOD
data. I am sure using either will be straight forward
with Amibroker, but I was just wondering if anyone had
a reason for prefering one over the other. Speed, ease
of use, etc? Input appreciated.

Thanks,
James
