Hello,
Facts are as follows:
During last 2 days AmiBroker 4.80 has been downloaded (and as
I expect installed) 837 times.
Only 3 people experienced any crash (from reports we
received)
That's 0.36% of installed base.
This very low rate shows that
these are local problems that could be resolved by checking
hardware stability
and eventual re-installing of the software.
Changes between 4.79.0 and 4.80.0 are cosmetic and do not
affect anything.
The only real issue with 4.80.0 is the fact that Easy alerts
under some circumstances
fail to start working. But this will be fixed in
4.80.1
So there will be _no_ RC2 as 4.80.0 has proved to be very
stable (99.6% installations without problems)
and 4.80.1 will be released as official version with only one
fix to Easy alerts.
As for
"No point IMO to get too
serious about 4.80 before the Help files surface."
This comment is completely off-base as Help file
IS UPDATED ALREADY
(the comment just proves that you did not even
bother to press F1 key).
Best regards,
Tomasz Janeczko

Problems?
My problems with 4.80 weren't identical to yours, but there
were several
crashes.
Forwarded details to support and installed 4.70
then 4.79 in a new
directory.
May try reinstalling 4.80RC1 over the
misbehaving instance if RC2 doesn't
show by Monday.
No point IMO to get
too serious about 4.80 before the Help files surface.
Thanks for your
feedback.

Subject: Re: [amibroker] AB 4.80.0RC1
Problems?
AB 4.80.0RC1 initally worked fine for me (with TC2005)
after it was first
upgraded yesterday from 4.79. Today, though, I did
have a problem in that
AB would begin to start up, then the program would
suddenly stop and
disappear from the screen. I'd do a double click on
the AB shortcut icon to
try to run it again, but with the same result of an
aborted startup..
In my case, I thought it may have been because last
night I'd done a disk
defragment and then an incremental disk backup.
Figured maybe something got
corrupted by the operations or how I did them,
or ... whatever. Anyway, I
restored my AB folder today using an
earlier disk backup of AB 4.79, which
then seemed to run OK.
That is, it ran normally and could get TC2005 EOD
data, etc.
My
final step, done tonight, was to reinstall/upgrade to AB 4.80 again
using
AmiBroker480up.exe. So far, all seems to be normal once more
and I can
access my TC2k database. (EOD data is up to date, as of
today's 4/13 market
close).
Don't know if this helps any, but
perhaps there is something more going on
that's causing problems between AB
and TC2005 (and maybe some other
program(s)?).
