Hi Rik,

Thanks for the reply. I have always scrolled through the usual company news headlines before buying, but that can be a bit of work, and often does not yield anything that strikes me as really important, leaving me wondering if there might be any big issues outstanding that I don't know about. I am not averse to trading new stocks   ( new to me!  8 - )    that I am not familiar with, and I figure it is good to know if there might be any bombshells waiting in the wings. I was hoping that there was some site out there that might offer a short summary of "open issues" for each company. I spent a while searching the web last night but didn't find anything new.

The best thing I have found so far in this regard is S&P Stock Reports, which is free research offered through my broker. The reports contain 2 small sections, "Highlights" and "Investment Rationale/Risk" which seem to do a pretty good job of mentioning any important issues that a trader should know about before buying. Two brokers that I know of who offer these free reports are Ameritrade and Scottrade.

Thanks for the help!

Steve

I have my "My Yahoo" home page set up to do that. The news seems current but isn't anywhere near being "insider info".

You can set up lists of stocks in My Yahoo and then get news stories only for those.

It is free. I refer to it daily.

My broker also provides stock news, as does QuoteTracker.

Subject: [amibroker] OT: Pending events website?

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a website that offers a simple, free synopsis, on a "per ticker" basis, of pending info/events that could dramatically affect a company's stock price in the future? It is tiring to search through endless news headlines looking for important stuff that may or may not exist. I guess what I have in mind is something like the following, which I just thought up off the top of my head:

Merck - Pending Events

-----------------------------------

1. Ongoing VIOXX scandal - major lawsuits undecided, more expected

2. Two drugs currently under FDA review and awaiting approval

3. Whispers of merger

4. Ongoing search to replace CEO who annoucned upcoming retirement

etc, etc...

Or, in the alternative, anyone know where we can get free analyst reports, which would hopefully contain this info?  Thanks very much!

Steve
