Hi Alan,
Did you check to see if the chart id is the same in both instances?
Did you restore from the original files? Custom layers should not matter
if they are using the same layout. If the databases have different layouts
(even tho similarly constructed, I think it won't display, but I haven't tested
this).
The info I provided I got in a series of exchanges with Marcin at AB
support incident to a how to paper I've been writing on AB files, what they do,
and how to synchronize AB on different machines. Still a work in progress
as other things have preoccupied me of late, but the files I told you about, if
replicated, will reproduce the studies (Trend lines, fibonacci studies, notes on
a chart, etc.) along with the broker.XXX files in the database if going to
a new machine. If you are working with the existing setup that you had
(where the studies once displayed) then I think you should only need the
original database folder, unless you altered the layers and formulas and saved
that as the copy of AB. For more info about files, see: http://www.amibroker.com/guide/x_files.html and http://www.amibroker.com/guide/h_workspace.html I'm probably confusing you more than helping, but read these
and then see if you have altered or restored the original
files.
Marcin's basic suggestion for synchronizing 2 copies of AB was to
simply copy the entire AB folder over. That works as well, but does have a
lot of overhead, IMHO. FWIW, I have asked if
there could be a simple backup procedure for AB to save all critical files and
such, like TC2005 has. However given what I understand about how AB stores
the different items, this may not be feasible. A future version may
support having duplicate chart IDs in the same window (presently that's not
possible) so that drawing a line on a price chart on sheet #1 would replicate on
a price chart on sheet #2 if both have the same Chart ID. Presently the
only way to do this is to have 2 windows open.

Subject: Re: [amibroker] Where are the
drawing lines/studies stored?
Hi Patrick,
I have restored the symbol file but the
studies have not returned. I don't use any custom indicators or anything
apart from the first layout screen. I use custom layers but the other
database FX05 also uses the custom layers and is unaffected.
I'm
puzzled. Are there any other files else that might affect the
studies?
Thanks Alan
