Subject: [amibroker] OT:Fast Computer
Specs
I never did go ahead and get a faster
computer when I last talked about it on this board. Now,
I want to get a faster one right away because I just added a
100 day smoothed RSI line to my indicator, and now the computer is ultra slow,
but I really want to use this line.
Today, I had some time to kill at Frys while
I was waiting for my wife to purchase a DVD player, so I located an employee
who was alleged to know something about fast computers, and asked
him to print out the specs for a very fast computer. I do not posess much
computer knowledge, so I would appreciate hearing comments regarding his
specifications.

Assembly Charge is ----$129.95----and also
a $59.99 charge to install the operating system.
I would use my existing Matrox AGP dual
monitor card, and my spare USB 2.0 PCI Host card if I go the
custombuild route.
====================================================================================
When I see all of these costs, I think I should
maybe just have someone change my old motherboard, RAM and
processor to something pretty fast, but not the expensive cutting edge
technology right now.
My existing machine is a PowerSpec from
Microcenter, with a 1000 speed, and 512MB of NON-DDR RAM. I would
appreciate hearing recomendations for a cutting edge motherboard that
can handle the really fast RAM, Processors, and HardDrives later on.
Then I could install some of the RAM described above, and a
pretty fast processor, but they don't have to be the expensive cutting edge
items quoted above. However, I would like for the
motherboard to be able to accept a WD740GDRTL
74GB SATA SERIAL ATA RAPTOR HARD DRIVE even if I don't get one
now.
============================================================
Finally, maybe there is an off the shelf fast
computer that can be had for a decent price. Then my old one will still
be with me for other uses.
I will appreciate hearing your opinions on the
above discussions. Ron D
