well, since Joe L posted that part I'll let him explain.  BUT it does illustrate how "interesting" this is going to be.

Dingo,

Point taken.   I agree with your position.

I just want a definition of the “Chart Pattern Recognition” category.  Is it to record information about the patterns themselves or to record AFL to scan for the patterns?

Both are valid, IMO.  It’s just that we need to have clear definitions of what should and should not be in each category.

Regards,

Dan.

the basic goal (imho)  is to have a "place" where anyone can post a "relevant" entry that can be used to seek knowledge on a subject.

As far as a pure discussion - I don't think that it would be the correct place for that.   This forum would be more appropriate. If we allow discussions on the wiki then its usefulness as a FAQ / Snippets respository will be compromised.

Comments below + one question…

Does the “Chart Pattern Recognition” section refer to a discussion of the strategy or of how to create an AFL script to recognize the pattern?

Dan.

Thanks, Joe/Dale...

I just spent 15 minutes looking at some of the main and preliminary editing/organizing tools and syntax for wike.  I had never before attempted an entry although I have used wikipedia numerous times.  As someone said, it is not so simple.  I will attempt a start, not on the outline I have but on some simple headlines as a beginning of an organization.  I also was thinking that a thorough FAQ might be a good way to start and more simple from a beginning standpoint.  It does not look as easy as I thought it would be.

Hmmmm......

Hi Ken - I agree with you and  I'd like to see your outline. I'd contribute topics where I can and

would start organizing the material on my part.

Best regards

A key thing is that no ONE person makes contributions.  Lots of folks write or edit material or both.  The more people who contribute even a small amount of learning or teaching about something they have done, the more the reference work will grow.  Further, people will only write about the things that interest them, so the content grows accordingly...initially with big gaps and perhaps not a lot of organization, but eventually growing into a valuable work.

A couple of us had compiled some outlines of things needed to learn about AB. This was done over a year ago and is thus somewhat out of date.  Nonetheless, this could be an organizational starting point and I could dust off these old outlines and see what it would take to turn some of them into Wiki pages---but it would be nice to see some positive suction, hopeful comments, and an indication that some folks would contribute some original content.  Think about Herman's tutorial from way back, on AddtoComposites.  Effort like that is the kind of contribution that would make a wonderful, information-rich AB Wiki.

I guess the big question, Who is going to volunteer to do all this
work on the wiki site???
There is already facility to add comments to the online AFL functions
that is clearly not fully utilised as it takes someone actually
writing something to add. We cannot expect TJ to do all this work and
keep AB moving forward.
No point running around getting things planned if nobody plans to do
the effort of entering to the site.
If you plan to have everyone write and add their own thing, then
forget organising unless someone is prepared to do the organising.

It all sounds good, but so far very few people have ever come forward
to do the work, and then continue to do so for long time to come.

Yes I am negative about it, It is good idea............. but.
