The problem with FAQ is that someone has to create and maintain it. It
can too easily become unusable.
There are lots of references that people obviously are not aware of
that can provide a lot of help for the novice
1. Help screens in AB. I am not being facetious, I learnt a lot to
start with by just going through the help screens to become aware of
what is available there. I even went through every AFL function on the
list (when I started) and attempted most of them in AFL to see how
they work. All the functions contain example of how to implement, plus
see 2. below
2. The on-line help screens also contain some useful added info, plus
you can link direct to written AFL codes in the library that have used
that particular function.
3. The posts to this group have been saved into files downladable from
AB website. Great way to search for past topics/hints. It might be a
bit out of date now, but 90% of questions asked are still about the
basics that have not changed for years.
You do not need to be a computer genius nor a programming guru to
write AFL. Logic plays the largest part of creating any system.
Computer logic may be slightly different to human logic as it must be
spelt out totally with no intuitive leaps. Each step painfully spelt
out, and worse, typed. I refer to basic things like if A and B must be
greater than 0, then each must be specified. You cannot just say ( A
AND B ) >0 as our human logic can inutitively work out, but you must
specify each separately A>0 AND B>0.
What I have said above takes time, but well worth the effort as you
will learn how to code AFL and find it easier to create your own
system rather that rely on others.

I forget how to compose them and have to clip, paste and modify.

Most of these snippets are not my original thought and borrowed from the board. Somehow searching Purebytes is not nearly as productive as creating your own store.

But then there are those that are too lazy to read anything and therefore will just post a question anyway and someone far more patient than most of us (good old Graham for instance) will answer that question that's been asked and answered 100's of times.
