I came from TS and used it for years i.e. way back to version 3.x ...

The main reason I moved from TS to AB at the time was speed and this
was well before AB had lots of the more recent enhancements in the
areas of portfolio bactesting etc. As a backtesting/optimization
platform AB had it all over TS being that it is at least an order of
magnitude faster. However I think TS is still beyond AB in terms of
a real time trading platform especially for automated trading with
its order control and accounting. Frankly that particular attribute
is of no real value to me but if it were I might be tempted to do
what you are considering.
