Yes, viewing holes in a chart's data is very useful to determine the 
instrument's liquidity amongst other reasons.

In MetaStock, I plot a major index as a base security in a separate 
window below the price chart, which forces the main price chart to 
display the tell-tale holes of any missing data.
I'd imagine this can be done in AB as well, although I haven't tried 
it.
