TradeStation has significant greater resources than AmiBroker... it may
not be realistic to expect similar marketing/tutorial presentations.
Documentation is easier assimilated by topic or special
application. I bet most of us trade in one specific way or another and
have interests accordingly. Personally i use only about 10% of amibroker in a
rather simple but perhaps technically advanced way. So, i would be interested in
short and to the point technical articles, articles that expose technical
Amibroker procedures in detail so that you can cut-n-copy to get started. There
is way too much trial and error in my design, simply because i often have to
write testing code to determine how AB would behave under certain conditions. I
work with minute RT data.
The
contents of most conventions may be interesting but i haven't come across
anything that I personally could translate into a money making procedure. They
appear to me as "orientation" sessions (with a social side to it) that may
be more useful if you haven't found/defined your niche or trading style
yet, they become less interesting once you have decided which way you want to go
and are specializing in that direction. But that is just the way i see
it.
It
would be difficult for me to write detailed tutorials (even though I
wrote a few) simply because it takes too much time to research details to
make sure I have got it right. By keeping tutorials simple and to the point it
will be easier for the user as well as for the author who can simply write about
the topic he/she knows well.
Regarding a Wiki style project... before starting perhaps one should run
a poll and find out how many users would be will to commit to a
contribution.

Herman,
You're probably right and on
any other day I'd probably think the same. I guess I'm finding the new
backtester learning curve somewhat daunting and then I started thinking
about Tradestation training. I think they have training sessions rotating
through different cities in the U.S. almost all the time. Since AB is
"better" than Tradestation (IMO), the logical conclusion was that it should
have better training. But I've also heard Tradestation used to be very
"AB-like" when it's creator was responsive and support was good but both
started going downhill when the company started
growing.
