Regarding the *powerful* forces you mention...
A highly regarded saying in America is "You can fool some of the
people *all* of the time, and *all* of the people some of the time.
But you cannot fool *all* of the people *all* of the time.
My own opinion is that the combined forces of globalization, energy
prices, and currency devaluation need a level of consideration that
many are not willing to face at the present time.
