If someone uses it for real-time data / day trading - you are right,
but if someone uses it for developing system using historical data imported from say ASCII files

See above. AmiBroker is NOT hard-wired to any particular source. It is true that when particular data vendor
changes something important an update would be needed but...
1. I have provided SOURCE CODES for data plugins working with data vendors that have published "open" interfaces
(see source codes for Quotes Plus, Quote Tracker plugins in ADK available from members area)
I can not publish sources for remaining plugins (for example eSignal) because I have signed Non-disclosure agreements
with vendors that have closed APIs.

So if there is such need and I won't be on this earth any more :-) there is always possibility for
everyone to update the plugin to work with changed interface (if API is open)

2. There is large number of people that use generic interfaces (ASCII, DDE)

All I wanted is just to ensure you that being small is actually good thing, in my humble opinion.
